Today I think this poem is about persistence. Though it’s likely not what I was thinking when I wrote it. That’s the beauty of words–everyone brings their own intentions to them.

ELEMENTARY
Water within stone
and stone within water.
Solid and liquid together.
Rocks are hard enough
to break skin and bone, but
it’s water that wears away stone.
Hard and soft, still and moving,
silent and softly whispering.
Stone knows water
in its heart’s core.
Waves lap at a stony shore.
