Last week I shared that my husband and I were spending our 25th anniversary walking around in the woods in West Virginia. I know–we’re wild and crazy kids! Well, we had the BEST time and today I thought I’d share some of the hiking highlights with y’all. These are from our hike around the Cranberry Glades Botanical Area in Pocahontas County, WV.
- Is it time to go hiking yet??
- First, a walk around downtown Lewisburg, WV. Such a great town!
- Plotting our 8-mile course.
- My first look at a glade (also known as a bog, fen, or muskeg).
- Yep, I’m having a GOOD time!
- Marsh marigolds–these were EVERYWHERE!
- The start of the Cowpasture Trail.
- A lookout tower offered a bird-perch view of the bog.
- Yup–it was wet out there!
- Little rivulets running everywhere!
- Me and my Valentine.
Love it! Congratulations! Hubby and I are celebrating our 33rd this week. And guess what we’re doing? Fishing! So we’re wild, too.
Congratulations to you, too! We may not be wild but we obviously like getting out IN the wild!
What better place to spend your anniversary than in your home state. Thanks for sharing.
Peggy
My sentiments exactly!
