In honor of Independence Day, I thought I’d simply share this lovely You Tube video featuring John Wayne giving the history of Taps. That’s the USMC Band performing the song at the end.
This is a day to remember and be grateful that we live in a nation where we are free in so many ways. I’m grateful that I can not only live out my faith, but that I can openly share it in person, on my blog or through my books. God bless America.

I had not seen that video. It gives new meaning to hearing taps at a funeral. I had always thought of it as something played for a veteran as a funeral tribute (sad enough in itself), but now I will be thinking of it as something they heard every night while in active service to comfort them and is now being played, just for them, one last time…
