Happy Epiphany! Today is the last day of Christmas–the day we celebrate the Wise Men’s visit to the Christ child. The day we celebrate our Lord’s revelation to man.
So it’s only appropriate to have an epiphany today. Plan on it. Aim for it. Be open to revelation and see what comes to you!
As I was walking Thistle in the cold and dark this morning, she left the roadway and found a largish rock. My busy puppy, who only stops moving when she sleeps (and sometimes twitches, then), stopped and posed on that rock. Stood and gazed into the distance like Columbus catching site of the New World.
And it occurred to me, we all need something solid to stand on. In our faith, our work, our daily lives. My husband is my rock for all the little, daily stuff that can wear me down. Reading and writing is my creative rock. Church time is my weekly, recharge rock. My family is my place-in-the-world rock. But all of those are really pebbles compared to my ROCK, my God and my creator. That’s the rock I have to stand on if I intend to stay, well, standing.
Matthew 7:24-27 – “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.”
