As an aspiring author, one of the things I need to do is begin building my “tribe.” That’s the group of people who will help my books be successful once they’re published. Facebook friends, blog followers, Pinterest pinners, GoodReads readers, and so on. Fortunately, I like most social media (in moderation!).
But Twitter. I just can’t seem to embrace Twitter. Messages of 140 characters or less. Why?? I have an account and have tweeted maybe four times (precisely how you should NOT use Twitter). But then I read this article. Guess who’s outpacing Justin Beiber on Twitter? Joyce Meyer and Max Lucado.
In April, Bishop T.D. Jakes tweeted a Proverb. It was forwarded as many times as a tweet by Katy Perry that same month. The difference? Katy has 20 million followers while Bishop Jakes has less than half a million.
I’m still not sure Twitter is a good fit for me. But seeing how Christian leaders are using it to share the Good News with the world certainly takes it up a notch in my estimation.
