The holidays can get crazy busy whether you’re trying to squeeze in writing or not. I thought I’d share this recipe because it’s quick, it’s easy and it’s GOOD. It’s perfect for that special event at church, a gift for the neighbors or a contribution to the family potluck. It’s called Chocolate Crack, which refers to the way you crack it apart, but the reference to an addictive drug is pretty appropriate, too.
Chocolate Crack (Chocolate-Toffee Candy)
Graham Crackers
1 cup butter
1 cup brown sugar
12-oz chocolate chips
Chopped nuts (optional)
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray a cookie sheet (with sides) with cooking spray or line it with foil. Cover the bottom of the cookie sheet with graham crackers. Melt the butter and brown sugar together, bring to a rolling boil and cook for three minutes. Pour butter mixture over crackers (careful, it’s molten!). Bake for 6 minutes–top will bubble. Remove from oven and immediately sprinkle the chocolate chips over the top. Once they soften, spread them with a knife or spatula. Sprinkle with chopped nuts if you’re using them. Cool completely–perhaps even in the fridge. Once it’s 100% cool, break it apart and enjoy!
What size cookie sheet?
Um, standard? I use my biggest one.
