Just for reference, an average novel is somewhere around 300 typewritten pages and from 85,000-100,000 words. That’s a generalization–some are longer and some shorter, but it gives you an idea of what I’m aiming for. I’ve heard several techniques for reaching the target count, but I’m a write-until-the-story’s-been-told writer. Hey, it worked out the first time–although I trust that if I ever do see that book published it will be somewhat shorter than it now is at about 106,000 words. Just saying it out loud to remind myself . . .
