“Do not waste time bothering whether you “love” your neighbor; act as if you did. As soon as we do this we find one of the great secrets. When you are behaving as if you loved someone you will presently come to love him.” -C.S. Lewis
Today is the day we tell those people who mean the most to us, “I love you.” Just a reminder that God called on us to do so much more than that. In Matthew 5:43-45b it says, “You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your Father in heaven.”
On Valentine’s Day I challenge you to not only love those who are most lovable to you, but to find someone you just might prefer to scorn. And love them, pray for them, be Christ to them.
