I’ve read every single one of the Mitford books by Jan Karon. And when my first novel was about to release, I even wrote to her asking if she’d consider endorsing it. (She declined so kindly I didn’t mind a bit!) And then I had the opportunity to get to know Jan when she moved to my area–a pure delight.

And now, I get to WORK with her!

DRUM ROLL (the news release)

One month after The Mitford Museum’s grand opening to four hundred visitors from 34 states and Scotland, Sarah Thomas has been named our long-sought Museum Director.

Sarah brings the museum and its supporters more than 25 years of marketing, non-profit management, and fundraising experience, including six years in public relations at Biltmore Estate. More recently, she spent fifteen years in management and fundraising roles at a prominent western North Carolina children’s ministry.

Our founder and Executive Director, Jan Karon, will continue to guide the vision for our non-profit museum as Sarah assumes the day-to-day operations and management.

‘Sarah’s rich background experience,’ says Jan, ‘is not only of enormous value to the museum and its retail shop, but to the economic aims of the town of Hudson.’

Sarah is also the author of seven books of historical fiction, and a longtime fan of the Mitford novels upon which the museum bases its outreach programs to the community.

My husband and I (and Thistle) will transition to the Hudson, NC, area in January. Come see me at the museum! (And please pray for a smooth move . . .)
