Happy Fourth of July

In honor of Independence Day, I thought I’d simply share this lovely You Tube video featuring John Wayne giving the history of Taps. That’s the USMC Band performing the song at the end.

This is a day to remember and be grateful that we live in a nation where we are free in so many ways. I’m grateful that I can not only live out my faith, but that I can openly share it in person, on my blog or through my books. God bless America.

  1. I had not seen that video. It gives new meaning to hearing taps at a funeral. I had always thought of it as something played for a veteran as a funeral tribute (sad enough in itself), but now I will be thinking of it as something they heard every night while in active service to comfort them and is now being played, just for them, one last time…

  2. I’d never seen the video either, Sarah. Hearing “Taps” played has always moved me, and it always will. Thank you for sharing this.
